According to EFE, Lori Chavez-DeRemer resigned from her position on Monday.
Her departure was confirmed by White House Communications Director Steven Cheung through a post on X.
With this decision, Chavez-DeRemer becomes the third cabinet secretary to leave her post in the past two months.
She had been under investigation by the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Labor.
The inquiry focused on alleged misconduct related to the use of public resources.

Among the accusations were personal trips taken during travel funded by taxpayers.
Cheung stated that the secretary did “a phenomenal job” during her tenure.
He highlighted her role in protecting American workers and implementing fair labor practices.
Allegations and Scope of the Investigation

The investigation also involved close members of Chavez-DeRemer’s team.
Authorities were examining whether her chief of staff, Jihun Han, and deputy Rebecca Wright engaged in travel-related fraud.
According to prior reports, they allegedly organized work events as a pretext to justify personal trips.
Amid the investigation, several officials were suspended.
Additional allegations also emerged involving the secretary’s husband, Shawn DeRemer.
He was accused of inappropriately touching two women inside the Department of Labor building.
One of the incidents reportedly occurred in December and may have been captured on security cameras.
As a result, he was banned from entering federal facilities in Washington.
Changes in Trump’s Cabinet
The resignation of Lori Chavez-DeRemer comes during a period of ongoing changes within the presidential cabinet.
Just over two weeks ago, President Donald Trump announced the departure of Attorney General Pam Bondi.
A month earlier, Kristi Noem stepped down as Secretary of Homeland Security.
Noem was the first to leave after leading a campaign of mass deportations.
That operation was marked by incidents that resulted in the deaths of two U.S. citizens in Minnesota.
Chavez-DeRemer was the only Hispanic member of the president’s cabinet.
Following her resignation, Deputy Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling will serve as acting head of the agency.
Before joining the cabinet, the Republican served as a representative for a district in Oregon.
However, she lost her seat in the 2024 elections.
